Our Story

True beauty is enjoyed at its best in the heart of nature and one of the most pristine ways of celebrating nature is through our winged friends.

Nature is an indispensable part of our lives. There are several trees and big green patches around the campus, but how many times do we stop to look at and admire a tree or a flower?

One day while walking around the campus, there was nothing special or enthusiastic about the day till the soulful chirps of a small bird perched on a nearby tree grabbed my attention. It was mermermerising to witness how through its melody, it was speaking to me, enlightening all my senses. I wanted to take a closer look. It was a red-vented bulbul and from the moment I laid my eyes on it, I was captivated.

Here’s where my journey for the love of birds began. For me, birdwatching gave me a sense of freedom from the cages of monotony and boredom. As my passion heightened, I set out to see more birds on campus and outside. I wanted to forge a friendship with someone who was sharing the same campus as me, my winged friends. Collaborating with my peers who shared the same passion towards birds we initiated the Birds of NMS.

A holiday or weekend mornings become more relaxing when spent with feathered friends. Over the last few years, with people getting more access to digital cameras and gaining interest in exploring the world around them, Bird watching has gained a lot of traction. A passion for photography has turned into a passion for birding. At the sight of an unknown bird, people have been seen getting excited and very curious about what their names are, their habitat, eating habits, etc.

Next time, you see a bird in your neighbourhood, try to find out more about it. You will see the adrenaline rush charging through you.
